An 08 Brocard Les Clos was absolutely terrific with awesome oily concentration, beautiful ripeness, razor cut and buckets of awesomeness. Great, great wine.

An 04 Burlotto Monvigliero is still awesome... Cinnamon and orange peel and tar and roses galore, simply intoxicating and one of the most unique and recognizable wines I know of. I love it.

A Balivet Bugey Cerdon was stunningly awful. Raspberry laced fecal bubbles with ample sweetness. I could see this being quite refreshing in the summer but the overt brett was enough to make you shudder. Godawful.

An 07 Fourrier Clos Solon was very good and very precise and proper and delightful, if definitely closing down. There was discussing of slight brett influence but ultimately I felt it wasn't showing, though who knows if it will down the road.

You're a brave man to still be buying GC Chablis unless you intend to drink them all young. Me, I'm sticking to Village level and 1er until the PremOx thing is finally sorted. Does this mean that you're in the midst of harvest now? If so, best of luck; I hope that this year's a winner for you all.

This wasn't my bottle but it was good enough that I will track down 2-3 to drink in the near term, really hit me in the right spots... I'm slowly coming to realize that GC Chablis in the $50-70 range can be utterly mindblowing but a lot of PC Chablis fails to excite at all... and the world turns.

Harvest is interesting, I think the best term I've heard is a "burgundian vintage" in that we're sorting green and botrytis out, we're far more worried about low sugars than high, we're considering chaptalizing a lot or two, and we've got most of our fruit hanging at 20-21 brix with a massive rain event forecast for next week. Awesome!

That said, the Home and Bearwallow that are in look stellar and what little wine we make this year is going to be awesomely fresh and bright and detailed.

Is Brocard doing something new? Seems like I've been reading more and more raves about their wines this year.
 
I had some Tournelle Pet-Nat Raisin last night, and it had some definite poop on the nose as well. I liked it because the accompanying Poulsard scents and flavors and because it tasted at least somewhat alive. But my wife couldn't drink it. I suspect a bit of brett and that I tolerated it better than my wife for some reason, but it's hard to know for sure. A vague fear of bacteria meant I only finished 4/5 of the bottle.
