Florida Jim

Florida Jim
Highway 12 in Sonoma Valley southbound at 50 mph; 6:30 am first light; cellar temperature. It rained most of the night and the morning is washed clean.
Little traffic at this hour and the hills are just shadows dotted with lights.

‘Was up all night trying to keep a fermentation of pinot from getting too hot; I have new ‘dry ice’ blister for my efforts and a safe ferment.

‘Moon roof’ open, jazz on the sound system, coffee in hand, smell of eucalyptus in the air, all alone and headed home.

How does life get better than this?
Best, Jim

It'll be better when you open a bottle of the overzealous Pinot in about five years and recall your midwifing efforts and the drive home afterwards.

Yes, Jim.

I had a few 3:00 AM visits to pump up a broken variable volume tank seal here in Walla Walla. Gotta keep that Roussanne and Viogner safe, but damn, it makes you feel alive.

Not to mention countless 6:30 AM drives out to vineyards for samples.
