Didn't expect to find these already

Went out looking for some early Porcini and ended up with some of the tastiest Chanterelles I've ever had. Totally did not expect to find them in mid-Oct (Sonoma Coast).

Had a smattering of random wines as well:

93 Domain Luneau Gros-Plant du Pays Nantais VV - Please tell me this is not supposed to taste like aged pool water?

10 Arnot Roberts Chardonnay Matthiasson Vineyard, Napa - Might be my favorite Chardonnay in CA right now.

07 Bea San Valentino, Umbria - Beautiful Sagrantino-ness with a hint of Ethyl Acetate. Complexity wore off and turned to full on mani-pedi territory.

01 Vina Ardanza Reserva Especial, Rioja - Worth the hype. I'm loving the 2001 Riojas I've experienced. A hint of dill-wood with figgy fruit and herbs. But then again, I was eating figs from our tree through the night. I'd love to see how this develops in 5-10 years.

Wow, that is totally nuts.

I have found a few at SPSP even in July, but never in quantity.

Boletes out yet?

Can't say I've done any local foraging, but we have been feasting on the most beautiful Matsutakes and white Chanterelles I've ever seen the last week or two. From the West Coast.

Haven't seen any (golden) chanterelles since early August on the east coast. Well, they were on Long Island. B & T chanterelles...

I hear Irene brought bumper crops of boletes in Massachusetts. I did not manage to get out in the New York area wilds when things seemed to be popping like corn.
