Two finds -- Burgundy and Bordeaux

The stars (in my view, at least) in a recent tasting...

Michel Gaunoux Pommard Les Grands Épenots 1er Cru '05 -- All the right components in all the right places with fine purity. Extraordinary value...look for it and buy it!!

Chateau Batailley Pauillac '06 -- Deep true red, good grip with delightful restraint for a clean classic Claret expression. Patience required as it is very young. Another one to look for at the right price.

Following up, definitely a worthwhile purchase...

Chateau Batailley '06 -- Dark red, dark fruits, light oak, nice balance of Claret flavors structured well, noticeable light tannins, black fruits, plenty of length and staying power for the future. [E-]

Worked well with lamb chops and tabouli salad.
