sneaking into town

Dale posted his notes on wldg in case that's any help. I think Chris has the url.

Those I've read. I was hoping for some opinions from the other 6-7 people who were there.

a few other opinions from memory:

1999 Taittinger Compte de Champagne continues to be my favorite recent vintage showing a lush richness that is completely satisfying.

1966 Calon Segur was a beautiful example of mature complete claret. A real treat.

1998 Fourrier GC 'Combe aux Moines' continues to be somewhat of a chameleon. Showed an extravagant nose this night and a complex palate. A great relief after my last bottle.

2004 Verset Cornas was light but lovely. Some debate as to whether it's time to drink now or whether it needs more time.

1998 Jamet was, unfortunately, corked.

2009 Bea Chiara was a delicious example of orange.

2010 Nikolaihoff somethingorother had a gorgeous nose but I found the acidity a touch high on the palate. Was Austria considered as high acid a vintage as Germany?

2000 ESJ Los Robles Viejos was exhibit #1 in why one should give Steve's southern Rhone blends some age. Wonderful wine.

There were some other wines. If their names are provided on this thread I may recall something else.

Thanks, Jay. I'm very pleased with the showing of the Calon as it came from me (I split several auction lots with Dale and sent him his wine a few weeks ago) and I still have a few in the cellar. And, yes, 2010 was a high acid year in Austria, too, though it appears that few winemakers felt the need to deacidify.

Yes, quite!

I think I have a bottle of this in some case or other though obviously not fro the same source. This bottle was consistent with one I opened a few years ago at, I think, Brad's place.

If I get called out to NYC again in the near future, I'll drag another bottle along.
