This and a nice handlful of other by-the-glass pours (e.g., M. Hebrart rose Champagne, Chidaine Montlouis, Puffeny "M") are available at the new and almost officially open -- i.e., they are in the "soft opening" stage for another week or so -- Mas La Grillade on Seventh Ave & Leroy. Food is very good too. I thought the Cotes de Py was drinking very well last night; still primary and fresh of course, but not shut down at all. (No clue when the mag I was drinking from was opened, though.)

I like the food a lot. He's using different woods for different dishes; and beets and potatoes are cooked directly in the coals; not on a grill. The beets last night were exceptionally good. Grilled squid has been killer twice, as was artichoke heart with chanterelles. I was skeptical, but it maybe the best dish on the menu (except maybe the beets). Smoked, grilled oysters (just barely cooked) consumed with some Montborgeau cremant (that is not available by the glass) were excellent -- fascinating mix of briny, creamy and smokey.

(I think Eric A was there last night, as was Adam Platt. So, perhaps more professional opinions will soon be available.)

No fair asking a question and then editing it out; leaving my answer to seem unbidden.

Oy, I seem to have scrambled things.

Original question: How was the food?

(But then I saw that you said that the food was good, so I was embarrassed at my shoddy reading skills and removed the question.)

Further details are subsequently much welcomed.
