2007 Baudry Croix Boissée 13.0%

Does Baudry combine his Grezeaux foudres (or whatever container they use) before bottling? My take on the bottle we opened is consistently different from what I read.

'96 and '97 Grezeaux seemed to age pretty well
As did the '89.

I mention only the '09. Which is delicious. I originally planned to age a case, but now I think I will cut that in half because I think there is more fruit than structure.

But we all know that wine ages on its fruit, no?

Not trying to be flip but, "we all know wine ages" . . . from that point on, it gets a little sketchy.
Best, Jim

you sound like a man who knows how to testify now.

But jokes aside, I did learn a couple of lessons with red Burgundy in particular, where I overestimated ageing ability ( or at least the start of window of drinkability ), having placed too much weight on structure, while overlooking fruit density

So if CB's there to be aged and G's for the shorter term, when do we drink the Franc de Pied?
Soonish per the absent Monkey. I'd caution that a bottle last Sunday didn't impress, much to my chagrin.
At Levi's Freedom Pie dinner, the best of the Baudry franc de pieds was the oldest.

The only Baudry wine in recent memory I've had disagreements with was 2007 Croix Boissee. Quite woody on release, the same a year later. Mathieu thinks it will integrate, and there have been some encouraging reports here over the past year, no ?
I would give it time, it may turn into a Dujac.
The other 2007 are superb; Clos Guillot was enchanting a couple of months ago.

The last Croix Boissée I opened, several months ago, was too boisé, but one opened last night had finally fulfilled Mathieu's prediction.
