Nice pictures, Dan.

I must say I'm in a Prum-induced coma today, after those 21 bottles of Wehlener Sonnenuhr!

Great tasting, thanks to our pun-happy host for organizing!

Amazing consistency of quality from this producer and sight (no duh, right?). Not a single bottle (other than the 1 corked bottle) I wouldn't want to drink again.

Favorites for me in the Kabinett flight of 99, 02, 98 and 01 were the 2001 (had it all going on) and the light and pretty 1999.

In the 96, 98, 04, 01, 05 Spatlese group, the 1996 and 2001 stood out for me as the most complete wines and really hit me just right.

In the 83, 85, 95, 97, 98, 99, 01, 90 Auslese group, the 1995 and 2001 were utterly fantastic. I think the 95 Auslese may have been my wine of the tasting.

In the GKA flight of 95, 97 (which I missed), 02, 98, and 01, I was blown away by the 2001 the most and it was definitely in my top 2 wines of the night.

Again, though, gorgeous wines across the board. Some of the 1998s were a bit darker-toned and not quite as nuanced as some others, so I would say that was not my favorite vintage. All of the 2001s were right in my sweet spot entirely across the board. And the 2002s seemed structured and still a bit coiled--best held for a while. Anyway, just some top of mind takeaways...

Nice (and tres rapide) notes, Mike. My WOTNs (in order) were the 96 Spatlese (phenomenal nose and palate), the 01 GKA (still way too young), and the 95 Auslese. Agree completely that the 02s were austere and shy. As always, I was bowled over by the generosity of those in attendance.

Oh, and I finally got the code right so that the pics are thumbnails you can click on for larger pictures.

Finished the last glass of the 96 Spatlese last night. Still going strong - great fruit, complexity and plenty of acidity - beautiful wine.
