If you haven't had the chance, you might want to seek out a bottle of Eminence Road's 2010 Elizabeth's Vineyard Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc. It's real wine. Congrats to Jen and Andrew.

I know zip about Finger Lakes terroir, and the winery website isn't fully informative about Elizabeth's Vineyard. Does anyone have some insight for us?

PS, for those in the know, I listened to The Pizza Tapes as I tried this wine.

Cab Franc and Gewurz are at Chambers St, btw

I'm planning to serve Eminence Road for our family gathering on Thursday (20 adults drinking Eminence Road- wow!) Probably the Acidalia and the Gewurz.

Saving the Cab Franc for my own enjoyment.

You guys are the best!

The terroir, briefly, is warm site, western slope on Seneca Lake, thin loam soil over shale.

How much skin contact on that gewurz, eh?

None, though some leave them for 24 hours. Would probably need a destemer.

Riesling gets all the press but gewurztraminer really does well up there in the FL.

One question: why not do this in the FL as opposed to deer-hunting country? Can't be cost differential, can it?

This was quite a hit at the Bowman Chinon-lovers' TG dinner. I agree that it is real wine.

Can we call it fine wine? Are we allowed to sling slang, rapper-style?
