03 V Dauvissat Chablis La Forest

drssouth

Stephen South
2003 Vincent Dauvissat Chablis Premier Cru, "La Forest", alc 13%....nose is rich and unctous...palate is similarly rich but balanced by stony minerality with bitter lemon...a bit more viscous than many Chablis (I suspect this is due to this hot vintage)....no oxidation or flaws and a wonderful match to Barb's Veal Piccata over fusilini...
Very nice

I had a stunningly good 03 in France last week - Corton Charlemagne from Roumier.

So interesting. You wouldn't think that a warm, well-drained site would be the thing. Maybe oolites hold water well?

A 2000 Roumier C-C early this year was like laser beams. Maybe not Rollin C-C like High Def laser beams, but zippy nonetheless. I could see how a warmer vintage of the Roumier would still be balanced.

More producer > vintage data points, at least in Burgundy...

On a similar note, how do people feel about Tempier Miouga '03?

I have an opportunity to pick some of it up for relatively cheap (like $45), but I'm a little worried about the vintage. Has anyone had it?

I had the tempier miguoa several weeks back. After some air, it started drinking decently. Not the most complex wine, but not jammmy or fruit forward either.
