Yesterday was an important day for us, so I pulled out something special. The cork was fungiitudinally black, but the genie that came suavely out promised to fulfill our every wish.

Mature, refined, pomegranate, cloves, forest floor, dishrag, a most divine dishrag. Lovely mouth feel: spry tannins, dancing on the tongue; oak fully integrated; scintillating acidity; wise-tasting fruit. In the flower of autumn, as it were. That magic of combining depth and lightness, where fine Burgs play the music of the spheres.

On a sudden impulse, I dipped my newborn's pacifier in the glass, shook out the excess, and popped it into his mouth. Suck, suck, suck, with gusto. Only two months old and, from a crime of opportunity, already baptized with his first wine. An Echezeaux one hundred and thirty eight times his age. Now I need a Cistercian confessor, preferably one specialized in premature Dujaculation.

PS: sorry, Mark, I intended to save it for your unpromised visit, but it was karma.

If you persist in writing such magical posts, we'll have to start referring to you as the Wizard of Os.

Beautiful and evocative writeup, y'know?

NP, O. Glad the youngster found it appealing. Our 7 yr old still doesn't find much to like in the wines that he tries although he still likes smelling them. Lately, he's had fun playing with the "Le Nez du Vin" that I've got lying around the house.
