Help a brother out!

I'm planning on hitting Sicily for 9 days on an upcoming trip before heading into France. Can anyone recommend some disorderly wineries to visit.

Already have been in contact with Occhipinti, COS and Cornellisen (Frank told me to get in touch with Graci and Lamoresca).....anymore must visit wineries?

Many Thanks

Dave

Thanks John....added to the list,

I plan on Palermo - Marsala - Vittoria - Ragusa - Modici - Syracuse - Etna - Palermo....maybe a day trip into the centre at some stage

I haven't been to Passopisciaro, but I have tasted several, single vineyard Etna nerello mascalese and cappuccio barrel samples that, if the opportunity is there to visit those plots and taste the wine, I think would be a great insight into the terroirs of Etna.

Make sure you report back about your trip. Sicily sounds like an interesting place to visit and others could use your tips.

The open air markets in Catania are really worth a visit as well. The fish market there is absolutely incredible and there are lots of small restaurants and stands that make a variety of delicious treats.

In addition to those you mentioned, I would suggest:
Gulfi, Benanti, Marco de Bartoli, Salvo Foti, Palari, Terre Nere, Passopisciaro

And perhaps also:
Il Cantante, Feudo Montoni, Caruso & Minini, Fia Nobile

For some additional color, you might also consider reading The Leopard (Il Gattopardo) by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, if you haven't already. Fabulous book.

There is a movie version as well, and in color.

I think I visited Sicily I might also visit Regaleale. Maybe not my first stop, but definitely there is a lot of history there.

Murgo might also be interesting.

In Ragusa don't miss Il Duomo Restautrant or even better I am told Locanda Don Serafino.

Don't they have a nice prep of male geese? I could have sworn that I've heard that what's sauce for Ragusa is sauce for a gander.
