'09 from clos de la roillette. From a parcel of vines planted in 1930. Apparently raised in old barriques instead of foudres. My this is good. Silky and minerally, crunchy fruit. Light on its claws. Yet densely packed. Coiled even. Volnay-like. Quiet fine now, but how could it not improve?

interesting. i bought a few, but figured i wouldn't try one for five years or so... thanks for the note, i know what i'm drinking this week...
 
oh, very interesting, thanks. I bought a couple, was worried they would be too 2009, even from Coudert.

What else does anyone know about this wine? This is the first time I've seen it.
 
my understanding is that it is the first time produced. when i initially asked, no one at ldm had yet tasted it...
 
Somehow I missed this. It seems like Crush sold a bunch and I guess I'm quick to delete their emails. Sounds interesting, but alas all gone.

Bill, I have no doubt that you are right, as the 2d half of the bottle is even better tonight. That said, it is not a struggle, or a shame, to drink it now. Save some for later too.
 
IIRC,
First vintage : 2009
Tardive juice aged around 12 months in used barrels from Côte de Beaune.
No filtration.
 
The Crush announcement also implies that it is a specific plot of old vines. So not just assembling the Tardive and then giving different elevage.

Never thought any Coudert was too 2009.
 
I've definitely had 09 Coudert Tardive shut down hard and go flat mid meal. That definitely happened to me. It was one of the worst shut downs I have ever seen, right up there with what Julie Pottenhouse did to Ryan C's back in 8th grade.

Le Buissy is drinking fine. L'Ancien from magnum as well. And the blanc, if that's your thing. All from the same chap.

Also Chignard, and Chamonard (both Morgon and Fleurie).

You may drink this more frequently than I do, but I had the 09 Chamonard Morgon and 09 Foillard CdP back in Nov/Dec and found them both perfectly drinkable but overall deserving more rest. The Chamonard was subdued for most of the evening and the Foillard gained intensity depth and tannin for most of the evening until it went overboard. I probably enjoyed the Foillard more for its expressive fruit, but will wait for both. Unless I change my mind.

and yet a bottle of 05 les vergelesses in november was spectacular, in a very youthful sort of way

full of surprises, burgundy is.

I had a bottle of the Foillard just this week and while it was tight and ungiving at first, after about two hours it was just gorgeous. Not that it can't get better, but I am not complaining...
