A Weekend in Excess

Lars, It is a shame about the Biondi-Santi appearing like a Medoc. In the past year I've had two lovely specimens (1988 and 1999, I think) and both were very clearly sangiovese wines.
1988 and 1978 - though IIRC you liked the 1978 quite a bit less than I did though I'll admit it was fading. Of course you might have had the 1999 elsewhere but I suspect you're thinking of the 1999 Soldera Case Basse.
Thank you, Jay.

Fuck everybody! At least I know how to spell oxidised and corked.
"Oxidized."

Anyway, isn't it really spelled n-a-t-u-r-a-l?

Nice to see such a good showing from the old Cappellano.

I had the 1982 Biondi-Santi Riserva last year and although at the time I did not notice it, thinking back on it now I do think there was a resemblance to old-school (and lighter-bodied) Paulliac, although I would agree with Jeff G. that even so the fruit tastes were more Sangiovese than Cabernet (this being the wrong time period and estate for the latter in Brunello).

By the way Jeff, thanks for linking to the K&L Spirits Blog, it was a good read.

I thought 'corked' was correctly spelled f-u-c-k-e-d.
