Indeed, Madiran is a good idea, for much the same reasons as top quality PS.

Ditto with Bandol. '04 was a quite good year there IIRC, and top producers such as Pradeaux, Tempier, Terrebrune and Sainte-Anne should have made wines that'll last a long time.

I grabbed the last three bottles of Le Presi. I couldn't see how not to with Keith and Levi both liking it so well, plus their website has amusing anti-Suckling diatribes. Maybe it won't last until her adulthood, but it seemed like a good thing to pick up either way.

Jurassic wines are very plausible indeed, and 2004 Croix Boissee also. But except for late release Savagnin and vin Jaune types of things I will have to get lucky to ever find these again. Still, there are many pleasant years of searching ahead.

austrian gruner was a good rec. I remember Age of Riesling saying that 2004 was really a gruner vintage.

Hmmm, I love top quality old vine GV at 8-10 years old. But what is it like at age 18 or 21 or 30?
In the early days of Cru there were tons of 20-30 year old gruners on the list and they were pretty darn fantastic.

My boy is a 2004. Here is what I have. Please excuse any spelling errors, as my amanuensis was unavailable.

Best,

here's what I bought from 2004 that seem like good ones for long-term aging:

2004 Paolo Bea Sagrantino di Montefalco Secco
2004 Dr. Loosen Erdener Prälat Riesling Auslese Lange Goldkapsel
2004 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile

I do like Truchot's 04s but I can't recommend paying the prices asked these days even for more predictable vintages.

An '86 Knoll last year was a total delight for about an hour after which it fell apart rapidly.

Though I'll admit (from admittedly limited experience) to liking top gruner best at around age 15-20.

I don't own enough gruner. CENSORED
