2009 Baudry Croix Boissée

Utterly brilliant. Young right now, but so incredibly fragrant, layered and complex already. It's rather tannic in the mouth initially, but a couple of hours of air and some meat make it more approachable and it's just an incredible wine to sit down with over dinner. Richer and denser than past CBs have been, but still impeccably balanced.

(Note to the monkey: followed your advice and bought lots of this. And Grezeaux, and so on...)

Thanks, Salil. I thought I was the only one who liked Baudry 09. I haven't had Boissee but I bet on it and the others.

I like them so much I imported them. The Blanc is crazy good, not that the 2010 is any slouch.

Blanc '09 is by no means timid, which makes the fact that it is so good quite remarkable.

I don't believe I have tried a 2009 Saumur-Champigny.

The 2009 Clos Guillot is the best rendition yet from that vineyard. I am finally starting to see in the finished product what Matthieu was so excited about when he acquired this vineyard. Everything is of a piece now. I'll be buying this from now on. I need to do some calculations to see if I can drink 50-60 bottles of Baudry a year though.

I haven't tried them, but word passed to me is that 2010 is another triumph.

Based on 2006 Le Domaine last weekend, I can see why you'd consider numbers in that range.

Lucky you, Bob. I'm so used to hearing about what you can't get. It's nice to hear that some of good stuff makes it up your way. I've got to open one of my Domaine bottles some day soon.
