'10 Amphibolite Nature Muscadet

i happened upon some of jo landron's 2004 hermine d'or. it's really singing--i think it's 'cockles and mussels alive-o!' certainly oystery.

Different strokes, I guess. I thought it not bad but lacking a bit of grip. Maybe that's why I like 2010 Germans, especially some of the ones that were not de-acidified (notwithstanding TT's claim that anyone who says that s/he didn't de-acidify is lying).

this. i suspect that much of de-acidification was done by people trying to fight the tide of modern viticultural practice, which of course, given his market, is what tt is rather forced to do.

on the whole, i'm a lot happier with the 10 reds than the 09s for much the same reason. more grip and freshness; and in that vein, early sampling of the 11s has left very positive impressions.

fb.

nantais reds? loire reds? old world reds?

claude had mentioned the germans and (more cryptically) terry thiese.

i was just taking my lead from there.

"fawlty boy"

this '10 thing and de-acidification ("the last person at this schloss to de-acidify was my grandpa!") will have one of two outcomes
- either I will ignore it completely and my cellar will continue to be filled with products of modern German viticulture (tm), starting with the next vintage that does not freak me out
- I will buy producers I've barely bought before '10, and then who knows what I will buy in the next vintage that does not freak me out
Know what I mean ?
