OK, Vouvray heads, let me ask you this - what vintage do you expect to be guessing, blind, when presented with an 89 moelleux ( not constance ) ?
We've already done this experiment, and we disagreed.

FWIW, '02 CdB M 1er Trie was sensational in November, drank it over 3 days.

Have you tried the '02 LM Demi recently?

I have not. I should be back in NYC next week, so perhaps I'll pull one.

I guess in a little while you will be doing a roast-lamb-in-a-heat-wave-without-air-conditioning jeebus. Wish I had been there to share in Brad's Codly catch. I would have followed Kay's advice and brought a 1989 Robert Denis.

I remember that well, with your Burgundy from the 20s and 30s that had been brought in through Texas at that time. You made up for it with that amazing '59 Coulee de Serrant and '55 Taylor's.

An '89 Robert Denis would've been sublime with the cod.

Whereas before your post I was thinking that that would be taking "low and slow" cooking a bit too far.

Now I have. Glacial.

TN: The Cod Jeebus: All-White Dinner at Brad's (Feb 29, 2012)...with a tip of the hat to Jeff Connell, originator of the idea.

attendees: Brad, Sarah, Lisa, Joe, Jeff

Brad Kane, the Jonas Grumby of the NYC wine scene, sailed out from Montauk to catch fish. He caught many a dogfish shark (for those not up on their ichthyology, that's not a food fish), but eventually he caught some cod.
Arthur Treacher's used to use it for fish and chips in the states when there was a commercial netting fishery.

Man, i used to love Arthur Treachers back in the day.

Cool, I guess. I've got some of that.

Mine. But some of mine have different cellar entry dates in my spreadsheet. So they may not all be the same.

Tried one from my stash. Glacial.

And really good too!

Speaking of glacial, anyone get a view of that Manhattan-sized chunk that just broke off from Greenland? Probably headed your way as we speak (or will be, by the time this thread resurfaces again in 2013)
