08 Thomas La Baille

'00 regular MD is quite tasty tonight. No need to age further, but not at all poxed, lovely mineral finish.

Yeah they have been irregular and that is perplexing but ultimately I think they're all heading in the same direction. But who knows?

Ok, I'm no expert. But do people really expect to keep Sancerre for 10-15 years? I'll readily admit that I was a drink-those-muscadets-immediately-because-they-only-last-until-next-Tuesday kind of a guy until I learned better. But mostly, I figure to drink Sancerres before they're ten until I learn better. From the evidence of this thread, and until I hear that story about the magical 73s, I'm going to suggest that people are experiencing plain old ox, rather than premox.

But one does not expect 3 bottles in a half case of 6 year old Sancerre to be young, minerally and brilliant and the other 3 bottles to be completely oxidized and virtually undrinkable.

Jonathan,
Remind me the next time you're in NYC and I'll find some '89 Cotat for you.

I'll be in NY the weekend of April 13 and free that Friday. I was figuring on posting as we got closer to the date, but now I want to reserve that bottle.

Nope, I'll be out of town, and he can't open one therefore. It's a politburo thing.

I have big guns up my sleeve for that visit. You'll be sorry.

Whoa! The Nomenklatura don't usually want their photos snapped. I'd be wary of knocks on the door after posting that pic, Jeff.

Politburo, What I imagine seeing is Lenin, Stalin, Gorbachev, maybe Trotsky hovering in the background. Instead a group of effete snobs languishing like capitalist pigs sipping wine. What happened to the revolution???????

Personally, I'm relieved to see that Keith Olbermann is involved. I always liked him on that sports show.

Go ahead, be snotty about mixed metaphors now.
