There are a lot of changes in Muscadet. I think SFJoe noted the presence of Rémi Branger at Pépière and Fréd Niger at l'Ecu; A-M. Brégeon also has its own Fréd (Lailler), and the dynasty continues at Luneau-Papin with Pierre-Marie (and Marie is now on maternity leave).

I'm personally hopeful that the Cru Communaux moves will help lift prices and make winegrowing there sustainable for the new generation.

I am of two minds on this. I think the lift needs to come from a quality extreme, and I fear that at least some of the Crus may not push as hard as they will need to for the difference to be perceived in the market. I don't get to taste enough Clisson or Ch. Thebaud, but I wonder how much of it is as good as Marc's?

Fred Niger is a skeptic on the CCs, and Taurus is his alternative answer to the problem. That, and he thinks the Domaine's wines are already standouts, which is certainly true.
