2 Chenins

2009 Marionnet Touraine Chenin Blanc Ungrafted - it's amazing that they can take ungrafted vines planted in 1979 in a ripe vintage like 2009 and make such a thoroughly charmless wine. Drinkable.

1957 Huet Clos de Bourg Demi Sec - magic

You couldn't put this together with two Rieslings and post about four whites?

It's been too long since I've had the '57 Demi.

At least the MF is spending an extra dime on corks.

i'm getting some huet bourg 1er trie moelloux 1993. anybody out there had it? not a vintage that seems to live above the radar.

'93 Premiere Trie? Gotta be counterfeit.

I actually had it this fall at the Berserkerfest. This is the wine that was released as the fabled '93 Cuvee Constance in Great Britain, but from what I was told, it was re-labeled as the 1ere Trie. Or, I maybe mis-remembering and it was the Le Haut-Lieu.

Whichever it was, I found it to be light, but with nice purity and excellent acidity moderating the sweetness. Quite nice, really. I'll have to see if I wrote a note on it and marked down the vineyard, though I don't think I did.

Just double checked and it was in fact the LHL I had in October and it was that bottling which was released as the Constance in Great Britain, not the CDB.

I've never had it.

A clearer warning bell could hardly be sounded.

No, no, not at all.

I don't know whether I've seen it offered, either.

I'd be very curious to try it.

Though the dry wines have botrytis that year, which is not my favorite flavor profile with age.

What makes you say that?

the 1er trie (whether it's there or not) is up on the shoulder strip label, no? that's where it is for the 1996.

nice comments on it being counterfeit, but who would be dumb enough to chose a vintage like 1993? kinda like counterfeiting 2's instead of 100's. cut the crap and mock up a case of 1959.
