2005 Vissoux Fleurie Poncie
From the bottle, gently port-like nose: cakey-spicey, rather than surmature or alcoholic. In the mouth, gingerbread spice, texture tending to silk, with sufficient, rather fine, precise acidity. The extravagantly plush, bofa-like, luscious fruit of its youth has toned up and balances nicely now with acidity and fine tannins. Pleasantly exotic flavors, which do not persist with long exposure to air.
Hoping this submission conforms to the ISO series standards for wine notes.
Props to Jim for a good call on this at release. With a hasty sideward glance at the budget, this is a wine that could lead me to question the need for more than just a little Burgundy in the cellar.
