went to reynards last night, andrew tarlow and the diner crew's new place in williamsburg. even this early in the food is amazing (especially the duck) and the rooms are beautiful, with 20 foot ceilings! they are highlighting the pig here more than the cow as at diner; how can that be a bad thing... the wine list is in its alpha form with many great ldm selections put together by our friend lee campbell. lots of '10 overnoy.

check out the kitchen! 2 wood burning stoves!!!

I had dinner at Bellwether, another new BillyBurg resto. This one is located amidst the clutch of green, shiny, new condo buildings in the northern end. The chef is Andres Grundy, late of the smothered-in-its-cradle Pillar and Plough (this is his second restaurant opening in 4 months).

Good wine list, excellent raw bar, wonderful seared cod; the food was spot on. The service needs some more polish. We were not there during any of the especially hip hours -- the dining room becomes a dance floor after 11pm, there's a record party on some Sundays -- so we just enjoyed the spacious digs.

The only art I could find on the walls was a photograph of Salvador Dali in a football helmet.

Is this part of Andy's hotel? Is that open yet?

I haven't managed to eat at Diner in years, always too difficult, so I end up next door at Marlow.
