I would like to respectfully invite you to a vertical tasting of Corison Cabernets sometime.

Proud of every wrinkle. I've earned them.

If he won't take you up on that offer, I'd be happy to fill in for him! It'd be a case of preaching to the choir, though.

Mark Lipton

You're more than welcome. Just let me know when you want to visit.

You really just never know who will be lurking. I refrain from the normal welcome, inasmuch as it has tended to have been misread recently.

No lurking- I posted.

I've been to a vertical tasting of Corison Cabernets. That was ten years ago and it was a revelation. I would gladly cross the continent to repeat the experience.

I'd be glad to join Comrade Connell on any such. I've only had the odd Corison Cabernet now and then, but each has been high on my list of best Napa wines. It would be a pleasure to put them in context.

Ms. Corison makes delicious wines which I'm proud to sell and happier to cellar and drink. Also, she's gracious as hell. And I'll wrassle anyone who says otherwise! Welcome and keep making "wines that grace the table." (There's some sort of FU benediction which someone should be cordial enough to offer.)

Best, John

i visited cathy on friday and i am happy to say that the tasting was as wonderful as expected. a breed of wine that is almost extinct in california (you all know the other suspects). the 01 napa was especially delicious!

the visit was especially interesting because cathy was only the second winemaker in an entire week of tasting in napa who was willing and able to talk about the soil. i was flabbergasted that so many winemakers either did not want to talk about the soil in which their grapes were grown or simply had no idea.

another pleasant surprise, running into mike madrigal at cathy's!

I already pointedly didn't offer it. I'm counting that as the welcome, on my own recog. The nomenklatura can, of course, decide differently. But it has never shown any interest in formal welcomes before.

Steve Matthiasson - The ribolla gialla is fantastic.

agree, it is really cool. had a bottle of it at oenotri in the town of napa. very good italian and one of the better lists i've seen in cali. nice selection of older, good cali stuff and a great selection of european stuff. lots of top notch, disorder friendly, producers.

Mark, I'll be in Russian River in mid-July. Road trip?

Napa?Napa is the last place one should look in California if they are in pursuit of balance.
Worse than the Sta. Rita Hills?

There are legit wines from the Sta. Rita Hills. There are at least 2 very good grape growers in Cargasacchi and Hagen.

Are you going to love them? Maybe not, but there are wines that are dialing in from there.

I don't think they'll ever hit the heights of the best SCM terroir, though.
