Gianni passed away last friday after he lost the battle against an insidious disease.
He was famous for his restaurant in Siena called "Osteria delle Logge" near the piazza del campo that he and his wife Laura had built up from zero. He also was a producer of Brunello di Montalcino and regularly crafted traditional, earthy and charismatic wines that mirrored his personality. The small vineyard east of Montalcino was bought end of the eighties and expanded ten years later with a few hectares in the south east. He leaves his wife Laura behind whom I wish all the courage and force to stand against this difficult time. Ciao caro amico.

We keep losing great winemakers way too early.. bummer
