Singular wines

I guess I should have added Vitovska and Verduno from Carso. There are about 20 producers down there, but only about five I've found who really make interesting Vitovska; not sure how many make interesting Verduno, but I've found at least one.

Damned, I tought Verduno was a town in northern Barolo. I even thought I'd been there.

You caught me sleeping, Arnt. Should be Terrano.

Also, Gahier's Jura wines may be pretty singular.

But isn't Terrano another name for Refosco?

Oh, and if singularity is the criterion it's hard to argue with the 100-year tradition of Wincarnis. I would know it anywhere.

Not from what the producers tell me. It's a member of the Refosco family, but very different from the Refoscos that they produce there, as far as I've tasted -- much more austere and stony.

or did i dream it?

fb.

Kane drank most of it (it's pretty sweet). Some of it ended up in my lap. A kind friend loaned me pants, lest I have dogs follow me home.

Folks might disagree with some of my choices, but this list will be well known to almost all on this bored:

Overnoy/Houillon Vin Jaune
Overnoy/Houillon Ploussard
Ganevat Vignes des Mon Pere Savagnin
Puffeney Trousseau Les Berangeres
Clos Rougeard
Mount Eden Pinot Noir
Burlotto Monvigliero
Stony Hill Chardonnay
Roilette Cuvee Tardive
Carmelo Patti Malbec
Cornelissen Susucaru
Occhipinti Frappato

You're right.

Aren't the reds rather like Puffeney's?

I can't say for sure. I have more experience with Gahier's whites than reds and I gave up on Puffeny's reds some time ago (which I guess means, not in my view).

He makes one old-vine Trousseau, which is the first example I've come across that I thought was as good as Puffeney, whose Trousseau I love.

Isn't this just a good knockoff of O/H's similar wine? Not that I don't love them both.

Clos Rougeard

Hard to argue.

Roilette Cuvee Tardive
Fair enough.
