Rudd Russian River Valley Bacigalupi Vineyard Chardonnay '08 --
Typical yellow.
Generous fruit scents, quite complex, apples, light citrus notes, some floral tones, on and on.
Impressive density and texture on palate, rich/flavorful/round, light minerals, solid melange of Chardonnay fruits, extra dimensions of richness.
Finish stays full with fine length. [E - O]

One that even the ABC crowd would like!

While hard to find, it is worth the effort. This wine is special.

OK, I'll quibble. This seems to be the description of a rich Chardonnay. Why would someone who doesn't like Chardonnay like this one if what they don't like is the taste of Chardonnays.

Jonathan, Fair question!

I believe most everyone would appreciate the balance and dimensions of this bottling, plus staying true to its (old vines) fruit, it is food friendly.

I rarely buy California Chardonnay, preferring Sauvignon Blancs, Chenin Blancs, Viogniers, etal, but this Rudd is merit worthy.

Had this trophy again tonight and it worked well with Cherry-wood Smoked Mountain Trout with Olive Oil and Lemon Flavors, along with Butter Bean Salad (celery, radishes, green onions, anchovies, shaved parmesan, fresh lemon juice vinaigrette)...
