Road noise

Florida Jim

Florida Jim
'Got back to the mountains of NC today; wind, snow and 18 degrees. So I'll head to FL tomorrow. 12 more hours and I'll be warm.
Tonight, a bottle of red wine and a pizza - nothing else in the house.
Once again, the drive across country was filled with extraordinary moments; sunrise on the desert, a fine evening with Trinka in Nashville, a herd of elk on the run, eaves-dropping on the 21st birthday party for an aching lovely woman in a Taco Bell in Texas, sliding up my driveway on the snow, etc. I've made this trip several times now and am deeply grateful, beyond words, that I have been able to.
A whole bunch of good wine over the past month - too much to really list or attempt description. But one comment I think is warranted; Aubert de Villaine's wines from his own estate are the strongest no-brainer buy I have found. The wines a simply beautiful and the prices are always reasonable.
Over 8,000 miles in the last month.
750 to go.
See ya around . . .
Best, Jim

Welcome home.. sorry the weather has turned so inhospitable.. you missed what was perhaps the prettiest fall color display in a decade!!
Let me know when you return to "our neck of the woods"

Well, if we were still in ATL, you could break up the 750. Don't guess Dallas was on the way back from Cali. But it's time for you to start planning the Dallas trip for next month or next year.
Welcome back.

Isn't that the truth. A full range of color and the leaves held out for what seemed like at least a month. Really lovely. Carolina truly is gods country.

Jim:

I guess everyone else knows this already, but what do you do that has you driving 8,000 miles a month? Next time, by the way, stop by my neighborhood on your rounds for a pick-me-up.

Cheers!

Ian

Ian,
Went to CA to make wine. Back and forth and driving around there makes for an interesting month. Fortunately, they're not all like that.

VLM,
B-wood and Trinka are coming to FL over the winter; whether with them or without them, you're always welcome.

Doc,
I was actually in the mountains of NC from 10-3 thru 10-17 (flew home after the white grapes were in and we were waiting on the reds) and saw it all. First time in a lot of years that I have had the chance. 'Loved it.

Steve,
As you know, I love to drive. I'll be at my best for the last furlong.
BTW, taking some Heart of Gold and Ole Black Magic along for the winter months in the south. I'll be sure and try them with several folks - 'got to get the word out.

Best, Jim

Jim,
We'll be visiting Jean's parents in the Daytona area over the Christmas holidays, with perhaps even an excursion to a brother in Sarasota. Let me know if there's any jeeb-type activity over that period (ca. Dec 22-28). I can't guarantee that I'll be free, but maybe...

p.s. Great Fall here as well, long and colorful. Winter has descended upon us, though, in spirit if not in name.

Ooh, an emoticon. How shiny!

I think that it's just line noise. VLM's probably limited to a 1200 BAUD modem on a copper twisted pair there in the sticks of NC. [insert dismissive emoticon of choice here]

Mark,

Having problems with the preview function? Coad is right, I think the tech folks need to get on this one.

Having trouble with my fucking brain is more like it. Some day I'll learn to reliably distinguish Quote/Reply from Edit. And while I'm whinging, why can't we nuke a post? grumble grumble grumble.

In fact, you can. If you go in to edit the post, scroll down and check the delete box.

I told you I was having problems with my brain. I actually had tried to hit the delete button, but neglected to check the box beforehand. Fixed now.

Thanks!
