Hello,
We made a very nice dinner at the TGJP in Paris last friday with 5 Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2001 (Pierre André, Charvin, Vieux Donjon, Marcoux & Ferrand) & 2 whites 2011 (Cyril Fhal & Maxime Magnon). see

Ask any questions on the forum and I will try to answer.
Best regards

Girolles! Cepes!

The food all looks great. And in full summer mode. Our summer fruit and produce seem to be just beginning to kick in. (Despite these several weeks of heatwave).

And Chanterelles in early July!

Pierre, my son is studying this summer in Montpellier.
Do you have a suggestion for a wine store where he could purchase the Maxime Magnon wines?

I like the young cepes...

So when did Cambie kick in to change Vieux Donjon? I have always pegged it to 05 (writing off the 03 to vintage and not having tasted the 04). His website says he started consulting there in 2000, but like you, I have liked the 01 and the 00 for that matter and found them to be like the Vieux Donjons of the 90s.

I will tell vintage 04 or 05. But imho, like in most estate, Cambie come beetwen two generations : father and daughter, and I don't know who is the worst maker Cambie or the daugther.

I can't find out when Claire Michel became primary winemaker, but it's a lot later than 2004 or 2005. She didn't come back to the vineyard until 2007, at least according to one site. So that marks Cambie as le responsable. But it still doesn't explain why his hand doesn't show until four or five years after he became their oenologist.
