99 de Villaine Digoine

This is my second bottle of this in a couple of years, and while the last bottle hadn't quite opened, this had. What a complete wine. An early pulse of sour cherries, followed by rich sweet complex earth. Great poise and balance.

I like de Villaine's wines quite a bit. It's a shame their pricing keeps shimmying up.

How much are you seeing, Ian? I bought his '09s (Digoine and Fortune) at KLWM HQ for under $30 a year or so ago.

The 10 starts at $35 on WS; Montots at $40. My imprecise sense is that the Digoine and the whites (Clous and St. Jacques) went up about $4-5/bottle from 09 to 10. The Montots seems to be holding steady, but at $40-45, it's not inexpensive for a Mercury.

They're probably still fairly priced for their quality, but I preferred them as bargains :)
