1999 Pol Roger Winston Churchill

Jay Miller
Only my second Winston Churchill. My first was the 1988 which Marty L. opened at a small dinner with Manuel and Jayson (second to last jeebus before the law school days) and which was similarly impressive. I recall a lovely 1988 Salon and a corked 1988 Dujac Bonnes Mares at that same dinner.

Reminiscences aside even my small pour of the 1999 in a flute had a hauntingly beautiful nose that filled the glass. On the palate the wine was gorgeous, deep and complex with a hint of caramel. I have to give the nose the nod over the palate but this was a stunning wine that bears a familial resemblance to the 1999 Comte de Champagne though in a more muscular style.

was this OK as far as levels of sulfur go?
I ask because 2000 BdB last week still had a few rotten eggs to shed.

if you are keeping a list, I was very happy with 99 clos des goisses recently
