Steve Cuozzo still fears Lee Campbell and natural wines.

Brégeon Muscadet on any list is a non-brainer. The 2010 is very good, but I love the 2011. And of course there's the cuve of 2004 which was just bottled earlier this year (different from the Gorges). Wowzer.

I import the wines, bla bla.

The 2004 Gorges was a wowzer wine to me, so you've just convinced me to find some of this other cuve that was just bottled. May I ask what it is called?

It's just the Réserve - it's a white, matt paper label (the normal is gold and glossy, Gorges has the name on it). A fun game to play:

Normal ≈ Vaudésir
Gorges ≈ Les Clos (although Valmur comes to mind as well)
Réserve ≈ Montrachet

The 2004 vintage was very kind to Michel.

Instead of writing about a very small number of restaurants that have thoughtful lists of unique wines in places like Williamsburg why don't these writers investigate why it is nearly impossible to drink anything other than industrial Chardonnay, Pino Grigio, Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot Noir in 1,000s of restaurants in the U.S. (they could start with Airports!)

If they could use their investigative journalism skills and persuasion so I could get a good glass of wine in any Airport or on an Airplane I would be very happy.

Agree. And add to airports every restaurant that just lets the Kendall Jackson rep handle the wine list.

But if Mr. Cuozzo followed your advice he wouldn't be getting all this attention. And that's all he really wants, attention.

So the 2005 Reserve was released before the 2004 Reserve, then? Because I bought some of the 2005 several months ago. Will keep an eye out for the 2004.

Yes, 2005 bottled in March 2011, the 2004 a year later. We had a very long discussion when tasting from the various cuves. I am now quite sure he was right and I was wrong.

Too many choices! I can't stand it!!
Glad I was able to try it before it became an Eater hot spot!

But I will agree with Cuozzo on the music. Although I would have loved Motown or Doo Wop.

"Now, every small new downtown restaurant acts like it’s inBrooklyn. A chef from Williamsburg’s “New Nordic” popup Frej! A 400 bottle wine list on a Bowery block where oldschool winos still guzzle swill on the sidewalk!"

Old school winos in the Bowery? Didn't Giuliani banish them and the squeegee men to San Francisco?

"i went to a restaurant. they had some fancy food. and a bunch of wines. no really. 600 wines. what's up with that shit? and what kind of commie fag drinks chinon anyway?

the kind of commie fag that fucked up my sundae, that's who.

i'm off to join the smart insiders at red lobster. 15 wine choices including ecco domani. and 7 dessert choices. key lime pie and no fucking fernet.

that's dining."

i swear the dude was driving my taxi from jfk on saturday night.

We've been using the NY winos and squeegee men to clean the underneath of The Golden Gate Bridge but we've run out of them. Would you care to volunteer, I'll personally write you a letter of recommendation. It does pay a little above minimum wage so it's an opportunity that shouldn't be wasted.

Oh woe is me, too many good choices and values on the wine list.

Except it didn't seem like he was being ironic.

If you like Fernet Branca is the ice cream sandwich a must try?

Ooh, I love ice cream sandwiches. Such a lost art. Tough to get a good one in a store in the last twenty or so years.

The texture of the ice cream and of the chocolate wafer/cookie are just perfect. Really refreshing after a long night of drinking as many of PCap's 400 wines as we could, and eating almost every item on the menu.
