A couple more notes for the ether . . .
1999 Desvignes Morgon Javernieres Beaujolais is kind of otherworldly. Heady sweet fruit, smokey, mineral, still with plenty of grip. The finish drops off and you think, aww, too bad, but then there is a silky reprise and the wine just lingers on forever. Still on the upswing. This and Savoye VV have proven themselves, time and time again, to be great wines for cellaring.
2000 Clos de Coulaine Savennieres lovely aroma of pollen and wax, light in the mouth but honest and satisfying. Really it's everything you would want or expect from Savennieres but toned back a bit in this vintage. Last bottle and that's okay. A Kent Beverage Co., Inc. Import.
2009 Olga Raffault Chinon Champ Chenin. My biggest regret as a wine collector was not loading up on the '95 version of this wine. This '09 is pretty with a honey flower nose but much of it remained in the fridge un-drunk. Never a good sign. Lovely stuff but no mystery in this bottle.
Best,
Kay
