Guess the author of the following:
"What we find ourselves with this afternoon is Bernard Baudry’s talent in La Croix Boissée for $10+/bottle less than his namesake wine (from abutting vines). The Olek-Mery sisters may be relatively new to the game (as recent inheritors of the winery and vines) but they were certainly smart enough to hire the one man that could make sense of anything La Croix Boissée threw in his direction.
Let’s just say, the 2007 Olek-Mery Chinon (made in metayage with Baudry), is not only a success, it’s one of the top wines from the terroir...it’s also one of the lowest priced.
Wonderfully fragrant, lighthearted and from the hands of obvious talent, this wine has a feminine 2007-like character that would not be out of place in Chambolle. Finely detailed mineral, stone and purple/tannic fruit swirl with the tell-tale wet cement of this site and the few years of bottle age have it in a terrific place to enjoy tonight and over the next 4-6 years. A Chinon of breed, depth and intelligence (without the rusticity of many in the region), the Olek-Mery opens and gains over the course of an evening with a certain charm that never allows it to veer into masculine/rugged territory. It is evident that Baudry listened closely to what the sisters wanted (a female interpretation of La Croix Boissée) and he delivered a top example."
Douchey and wrong in so many ways.
