TN: I miss Mike Meisner

Whatever happened to that guy?

Opened recently: 2000 Clos Roche Blanch Gamay--Of course we're not supposed to age these. The wine is holding its own, vibrant, mineral, crystal clear, the fruit is sweet and warm from cellaring. Acidity will carry this vintage onward. Drink and hold.

2010 Bloomer Creek "No Oak" Chardonnay, from the Finger Lakes of New York, is quite a lovely bottle. A complete mouthful of wine with stony persistence, gentle acidity and just the barest lactic flourish. Needs a full day in the decanter.

As an aside, it's nice to see the TN's flowing again on this board. Cheers to everybody!

I miss Mike, too.

He had a guileless innocence about him that was strangely attractive.

I don't have any 15.5% pinot at home that I can mix with Syrah, but maybe if I put some vodka and cassis in the '02 Groffier Les Amoureuses that I misguidedly bought, we can drink a toast to the young fellow.
