Radical price increases are lamentable of course, but my first thought at seeing the thread title was that the esca virus had spread in some new alarming way. So I guess that um, I'm relieved?

Beaune Imports began importing to the Bay Area with either the '98 or '99 vintage. For Loire wines they were pricey at approx. $25-$40. So, they were slow movers in those days. I'm sure it was just standard margins they were doing. I think at times they would even eventually be closed out. My, how times have changed.
