Texier wines are good!

We have the Texier basic Cotes du Rhone by the glass at our winery in Portland and it's really good. Amazing. I heard he sucked.

I love that stuff. Such a delightful wine.

Had another bottle last night (bottle 10 so far...) that was beautiful. Served to non-geeks, they loved it.

Texier's Cote du Rhone is a really great wine, especially at its price point. Everyone I have ever shared a bottle with has loved it without exception.

It's really a great intro wine for a non-geek.

2005 Texier Brézeme was opened in part because of reports of fake cork closures, but thankfully was (in my case) sealed under cork. Bright and sprightly, opening up to reveal juicy black fruit in a medium-weight package. Not offering too much aromatically except a little pencil lead, but pretty damn fine with some grilled, butterflied leg of lamb.

That sounds perfect.

It would have been had the Freak been able to pitch a decent game last night.

Yeah, Timmeh forgot to smoke last night. When it got to 6-1, I switched over to the 49ers game for the duration.

I'm not a fan of Buck and McCarver, but their explanation on his leg mechanics and the direction his feet need to point towards the plate for his pitching to be effective was very interesting.

Do we get this year's Zito or the last 5 years Zito tonight?

I expect Zito to be OK, but they'll need to score at least 3 runs for him to have a chance. His "luck" this year was more run support (and fewer rocky innings). Since he's going up against Lynn, there's a chance at least.
