The HDH catalog came in the mail Friday. They have always been longer on descriptions of provenance than many other houses, but this time there was something a bit different. In addition to the usual pornographic pix of magnums of Trotanoy and what have you, they have also started showing pictures of original sales receipts for the wines.

Too bad I don't have originals for most of my wines, should the occasion ever arise.

I keep every receipt that has to do with my car. I have a file with all the paperwork regarding its purchase and maintenance. I make notes that I feel are relevant to its history.
I do all this so that, when I resell it, I can produce it for prospective buyers.

It occurs to me that people who save their sales receipts for wine may do so for the same reason.

Just a thought . . .
Best, Jim

I've seen this in the last couple of auctions.

I have all my receipts since 2008 in electronic form, before that, it is a bit sketchy.

There is an enormous amount of Bachelet in that auction along with the Trotanoy. Too bad about the new business and the new roof. Ugh.
