The wine shop above my favorite storage facility has had its ups and downs.

Not so fast, JD. That '89 Cave Privée Rosé could present interesting qualities. If I gather correctly from their slightly overblown website, it is an RD cuvée.

I think the first one i had was the '79, in '86 or '87, and it was lovely; complex and sort of smokey, as I recall it. But i had never had a vintage rose champagne of any sort before it.
