Abbatucci

The '11 Abbatucci Rouge Frais Imperiale really puts the "Glou" into glou-glou. I mean, wow, really does. Pretty cheap date as well just in case anyone was wondering.

Marc,

My best guess would be Sciacarellu but it could be something else or a blend of a bunch of stuff. Abbatucci apparently has planted a ton of indigenous vines, the names of which aren't at all familiar to me. I'm just starting to try the wines and have been pretty impressed so far. The Ajaccio rose was also superb with roasted fish stuffed with lemon, garlic, thyme and olives. The underbrush/herbal aspects of the rose really worked well with this lighter and very basic Mediterranean dish.

Thanks.
You guys try their Vermentino?
I have tried a few Vermentinos from Corsica, and the wines really change when you compare one from Cap Corse to Patrimonio to Ajaccio and points south. I love the Corsican rosé I've tasted too. I haven't really figured out the reds yet. Some are glou glou and some seem seriously structured.

I have had the Vermintino a few times recently. It's very good. Let it air out a few hours before drinking.

I also love the rose, but I find the red a hard to figure out. Pricing on these wines seems a bit aggressive.
