Especially as Michelot and Boillot are very long tastings if they show everything, and Barthod ain't exactly short either (speaking from experience as Barthod/Boillot caused me to miss my next appointment at Grivot, which I fortunately was able to reschedule).

This was sweet revenge ( man, was that a pun or what? ) for two years ago, when our group had to split up, and I ended up leaving for the next appointment after having only tasted at Boillot, while others stayed behind to taste through Barthod.

Sticking my nose into that Croix Noir has become one of the most anticipated moments of trips to Burgundy in recent years. Change of importer, btw. I actually asked the former importer what they were smoking. I can be kind of direct that way. Learned from VLM, I guess.

Really? Who's picked up Louis?

I understand it is RWC. Apologies if this turns out to be merely a rumour.

It's a pun. The restaurant is located on the rue de Cotte. The "Le" is because it's a restaurant (masculine, always)--you'd say, "Le Paix" for instance, if the restaurant were called Paix (which is a feminine noun).

I was hoping you would enlighten me. Genre, always tripping me up. But what if the restaurant name is "Restaurant La Paix"? Then it would be "la" in the name, but "le" if you just referred to the restaurant, as in "Le Paix nous a présenté son menu de printemps"?

Punful names for restaurants seem pretty ubiquitous in France. Spotted on a recent trip to the Southwest:
--"les Girons Dines" in St. Emilion
--"le Croq Magnon" in the Dordogne

Nope, as it turns out, it's true. They are available from RWC in our market.

I asked the regional Rosenthal rep about it and he gave some BS/Schnook answer which means he didn't really know and it was most likely a pissing match between a short dude and a Burgundian dude, both of whom my 7 year old nephew could take, in which everyone looks like an idiot (except my 7 year old nephew).

2 months in, and I'm already sick of schnook BS.

email just received from RWC on 2006 Louis Boillot wines.
I expect that's where Louis has wound up -- he's no longer listed on the Rosenthal site. But from what i've observed, RWC does import and sell various other producers who officially are represented by other importers, and FWIW, the RWC website does not show Louis as one of their producers in their import portfolio (some 2007-08-09 are shown in their inventory, though, but so are the wines of lots of others who have different official US importers, e.g., Bollinger, Faiveley, Jadot, Chevillon, etc.).

Are you guys referring to Domaine Louis Boillot et Fils? It just started coming into my market through Sussex. Selling at Moore Brothers. I bit on an 06 Pommard today.
Any thoughts on the producer? Totally new to me.

Nowhere. Next time. But I did come back with a bottle of Fixin blanc.

No, I don't wonder. Have you not noticed?

true dat.

where did you go off the beaten track to?

fb.

On the other hand, I did achieve certain closure by physically entering the cellars of some usual suspects for the first time - Ponsot, Liger-Belair, Roulot, Gouges, Michelot, Barthod. The case of Barthod was peculiar as I had been in the cellar more than once, tasting Boillot.

I have resolved to explore next year though.
