Cuvee Ludwig Hahn NV

from Domaine de l'Ecu.....anyone had this? looking for food pairing ideas. 45% gros plant, 25% chard, 20% melon, 10% cab. sauv.

Yes. Multiple times. I didn't find it all that different from the Bossard-Thuard mousseaux except for a bit of chocolate in the finish in the B-T that isn't in the Ludwig Hahn. The flavor profiles are crisp clean lemony limey with sea salt spray. I've had it with pan grilled scallops w/lemon and with assorted Chinese takeout with no clashes.

thanks Bill...the scallops sound like a solid test run menu item. i've not had any gros plant yet, nor any white sparkler with that percentage of cab sauv for that matter, so i wasn't sure how weird a thing i got myself into...hehe.

I don't really sense any cabernet in this, Joel, or in the B-T (where the sauvignon is substituted with franc). Tastes like sparkling muscadet to me.

i look forward to it this weekend perhaps.

is loire the only region to throw cabs into the mix? it's interesting that for the percentage included that it's rather undetectable.

You will also find them in Crmant de Bordeaux.

just opened the LH, and must say from the start this one has enough finesse to compete easily with champs...delightfully impressed with the verve and balance.
