Is the Tondonia Tempranillo-based? Tempranillo can make pretty good wine, in my limited experience. I wonder why it isn't chatted about more often.

No, it's cabernet sauvignon. Everyone always talks about it, only in code.

I am taking this one offline with Sharon. Otherwise an entire wine board will shut down again, like the last time.

The LdH website is unresponsive just now but I believe the correct values are 75% tempranillo, 15% garnacha, and the rest is graciano and mazuela.

So far the best candidate for winna is: The wines are in barrel for so long that they throw the bulk of their sediment before they are bottled. Using fur-lined cups to capture sediment is second best.

Happy to brighten your day, ma dame. But, really, Tempranillo rarely gets its props, seems like.

(Still waiting on my decoder ring, by the way; probably shouldn't have ordered it from Premier Cru).

I was first given a taste of the 1970 LdH GR a few months ago and was bowled over by its stupendousness. So I picked up a bottle to share with my wife, and it was equally stupendous. Like the earlier one, it synthesizes an entire meal on whatever axis one chooses. Appetizer, main and dessert. Meats, vegetables, spices, sweets. A completely universal essence type of wine, if you'll excuse the hyper bowl.

When I wrote the above, I discretely left out the name of the generous provider. It was Joe, of course, who opened one at chilly Chelsea Vaults for Sharon and me late in the afternoon of August 31, 2012. Subsequently I got me some more of the same magic potion, and last night the moment was partially relived and completely remembered.
