Lou Kapcsandy was in town to host a couple of tastings the past two days. Very enjoyable and impressive!

Kapcsandy Family Winery Napa Yountville State Lane Vineyard Rosé '09 -- Bright pink, light dark fruits, maybe slightly herbaceous (in a good way), lively/uplifting, medium complex, strawberries, layered profile. [E]

Kapcsandy Family Winery Napa Yountville Endre '09 -- Dark red, lots of vitality in bouquet, black fruits, tobacco, nicely balanced, components in nice harmony, no edges, medium tannins, Claret-like. [E]

Kapcsandy Family Winery Napa Yountville Endre '08 -- Dark red, forward bouquet, lush fruit fragrance, cassis, maybe some chocolate, smooth texture, solid dark fruits, mellowing nicely. [E]

Kapcsandy Family Winery Napa Yountville Endre '07 -- Dark red, berry fruits, maybe cherries, cigar box aromas, medium layered complexity, well integrated, medium tannins, solid core of fruit including perhaps blueberries. [E]

Kapcsandy Family Winery Napa Yountville State Lane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Grand Vin) '09 -- Dark red, powerful almost piercing aromas, currants, appealing leather, some floral notes, deep and full with wonderful roundness, excellent balance, serious, well constructed. [E - O]

this is better. i think we all know that grapes are a lousy match for warm pear ginger upside down cake with amaretto whipped cream.

out of curiosity, what was the percentags of cherries, cigar boxes and blueberries in the final cuvee?

Richard, Accordingly, the amaretto will not be included.

Thanks for your interest! I was actually more partial to the '09 (by a gnat's eyelash). While the '07 evokes fond memories, they regrettably don't detail the percentages of nuances therein.

The Rose was remarkable.
