1998 Cotes du Rhone Villages, Steinmayer (Domaine St. Anne)

Pure, refreshing and vibrant as ever; earth and fruit and gentle floral elements coming together seamlessly, and it's now showing a tannic grip that I don't recollect in the bottles I opened right on release. So, so good.

ok, I stole that from Salil, but it's pretty close. A little saltier than I remember, and a bit drier. Unbelievably youthful and delightful for a 14-year-old, what--$12.00 bottle?

I still have 8 or 9 bottles!

what a wine.
I am so sorry that I didn't have the time to explore and understand this great terroir before I lost the cadinieres vineyard

Are these guys still around? I used to buy their St. Gervais. There was also a really fine pure syrah.

the Flickinger page shows the St. Gervais, which is my favorite St. Anne wine (which I also have some bottles of ); the one I noted above is not a site or cuvée specified bottling. Yet the Steinmayer signature freshness and precision are unmistakable.

Didn't Rare Wine bring in the St. Anne at times?

Haven't been a fan of their viognier, though. Wish they had some marsanne/rousanne planted there instead.

Lou; that's the RWC cited above

Yo, I'm always going on about these guys and Eric's Cadinieres and don't get no love like this? What do I have to do, be a great winemaker or something?

Eric, I'm very sorry to hear about the Cadinnieres - that cuvee is one of my very favorite Rhones - what happened?

I should also add that I heard from a source somewhere that there was a quality dip a few years back, but I have no idea if this is true...

VLM, I believe you, Lee and I had one or two St. Anne's on your last visit to Seattle...at that burger place on Capitol HIll...
