If Pete won't, I will:

1993 Scavino Bric del Fiasc. Terminally fucked. Yuck. Glad Jeff talked me out of this last we jeebed. His 97 Clerico was vastly better. Just a little rose petal sticking out behind the coffee to remind you what it could have been.

2002 Breton Perrières. Smells like ass. Maybe the wine will come out after awhile, but this is a disappointment. It was so beautiful on release.

Scavino 'could-have-been'? Could of been fucked right off the bat, with oak, modernist porridge...much better off to have skipped it.

Yes, certainly. Had I only known at that point, I obviously should have just bought more Bartolo... I just meant that despite the treatment it got, I felt I got a glimpse of barolosity underneath.

Hey, you and me both. I began getting into Piedmont wines in the early 90's as de Grazia was ascendent. Could'a had a nice cellar of traditionalists if I ignored the hype. (But I will say that I've never seemed to mind the oak in Clerico for some reason)

I've had great bottles of 1989 Fiasc from Scavino, but the wines of the 90s were amongst the worst offenders of distortion.

Also, FWIW. In the last year, I've had bottles of Parusso, Clerico, and Corino that I've really liked.

I've also had Azelia and Revello that were not to my taste.

I liked Jeff's 1997 Clerico a couple of weeks ago, but the 93 Pajana I had a couple of years ago did not impress
