2010 vs 2011

Drank Lapierre Morgon 2010 and 2011 tonight, both from 375. No contest: 2011 was shrill and thin while 2010 was full and well-balanced.

Well, Eric says 2010 is great in Morgon.

Fwiw, I've been liking the 2011 Beaujolais I've tried, but it's mostly been lower level and mostly taken a bit of time to strut its stuff after a rocky start (l'Ancien being an exception). I did taste the Lapierre MMXI a while ago, and fell hard for it.

Very interesting. From 750mls, the '11 normale and cuvée marcel a few weeks ago were both very good. The latter a bit closed, but neither was shrill or thin. Rather perfectly balanced, they seemed to me.

I think so. That was the only time I've had the '11s.

This was pop-n-pour, maybe that matters.

From those weird 375s, maybe that matters.

A year's difference in age, of course.

Insert whopine concerning the uselessness of tasting notes, subjective experience, apostasy, whatever.

The only 2011s I've had so far are Vissoux, Bouland and Coudert. I figured that if there were to be a hit on this vintage, it would be, as with the 09s, that it was too much of a muchness. I've liked the ones I've tasted, so far.
