What are you drinking?? 12/21/2012 is a couple of hours away...
Are they right? (doubt it)

1999 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs...
this is really at a fine place....the fruit is mellow and the palate is smooth and velvety...very pleasureable...love the "dirt" showing through...still bright

Monje 2008 Tacoronte-Acentejo Tinto Tradicional, unlike the dull bottle I opened for Jay at the cellar, is singing in a red berry-ish close harmony with a noticeable licorice bass note. Good with spaetzle, mushrooms, pork meatballs and other things.

Somehow, a plate of spaetzle reminds me of those wiggly carvings favored by the Mayans.

Steve,
Thanks for the note; I have a couple of those.
We drank rose with our dinner as it is almost like summer here.
Happy, happy, Jim

Clemens Busch 2011 Riesling Trocken, Pavelot 2010 Gravains, Pavelot 2010 Guettes.

Will be interesting if the Mayans are right; but even if they aren't, it won't be the end of the world.

1997 Breton Picasses. Showing some brett, but lovely wine nonetheless. Last bottle was too much brett. Not this one.

I did not detect any, in August.

Wasn't ready, either.

Hmmm. Temp must not have been well maintained on my shipment from Chambers, way back in the day. My bottle was not mature, but certainly provided much pleasure.

Clemens Busch 2011 Riesling Trocken

Tried this as well. Very lovely, honied and almost tropical but remaining light in the mouth. Was expecting something a little wild, this was refined ready to please.

Thanks Georg Lauer for the excellent recommendation!

Opened the 2011 CB vom roten Schiefer this evening. The Trocken was a bit breezy for me, and I prefer this slightly more broad-shouldered Riesling. My judgement of wines this young is admittedly not great, though.

lemme try
