dinner in Paris

Jonathan Loesberg
We will be in Paris on the night on Dec. 28 only, on our way home from Provence. We're arriving at the CDG TGV at 4 in the afternoon. We'd like someplace decent, maybe near some touristy thing to do and also near a Metro stop, so we can go down, play and get back for our plane the next day. A good wine list is a plus but not necessary. A nice decent bistro would be fine. Thanks.

you could do a lot worse that here:

i was there in october--unfortunately after dining so didn't try the food, but they had jacky preys fie gris for 3 euros a glass.

i don't know if they'll be open when you're there.

I would not recommend the food. Or wine, really. There are many better options even within a 5-min walk....

better than haggis? Really?

We ate at Juveniles before reading Sharon's demurral. I would agree with her. The food was at best satisfactory. The wine list itself was small, though it had moments. You could get some more selection by looking at the binds and ordering a bottle. Having whined and moaned, though, we enjoyed walking there along the rue de ritzoli (oops, rivoli) during full 5th Ave. Christmas week glory and had a perfectly OK time at the restaurant.

jonathan--sorry the recommendation didn't work out better. as i mentioned above, i was there after dinner for a couple glasses of wine, and what i saw on the menu looked beckoning enough. that, and the writeup in wineterriors.com

No need to apologize. Maybe it was just an off night, or we selected badly. Or, god help us, varying tastes. The room was quite full of people eating dinner, so it is pleasing a lot of people.
