Don't know how far south you'll be going but a 2012 Piedrassasi, Santa Barbara County, Syrah had recently tasted liked good Cornas - something to think about.

2015 Folk Machine Central Coast Pinot Noir 12,9%
Didn't visit these folks during our rampage two years ago, despite good press in these pages, so when I saw a bottle of this at Chambers, I grabbed.

Cherry and smoke, not the most welcome nasal combination (reminds me of the handful of über-mediocre Rhônes I've partaken from Les Vignerons d'Estézargues, all of which had this burnt signature).

Lightweight, with some American oak peeping through the mild pinosity. Rustic, as if wearing a dungaree and holding a pitchfork (in a manner of speaking, of course). Ends a tad bitter. Not an appealing quaff, alas, leading to a dearth of regrets over the skipped visit (one swallow does not a summer make when a swirl suffices).
 
OK you Californians, let's get this set up. Jeeb time!

We will be in CA June 6/26 through 7/8. It looks like we'll be up in the Russian River area the weekend of 7/1 and 7/2.

Could a thought be doing a little lunch get together on 6/30 at Nido and then check out Mike's place, or start at Mike's and then go to a late lunch?

Alternatively, we could do an evening jeeb somewhere.
 
And hey Mike I was reading up on your website. Where exactly is the Evangelho vineyard? My folks live in CC County. My mom's husband owned the Ford dealership in Antioch for many years, and had a hunting lodge on the Delta.
 
Evangelho is just west of the Antioch Bridge (which crosses the San Joaquin), and just south of some evil-looking old factory like thing.

Yeah, that's the oil refinery. OK, so I know that country pretty well. Cool, never knew!

Sorry, it's been awhile since I checked the boards.....

The 30th works out just fine with me--we can meet at Dashe Cellars at 11:00 or so and taste some wines, then just stroll over to Nido for lunch. Let me know who's in, so I can talk to Sylvia at Nido and get a table reserved for us.

Looking forward to it....

Ooh, super fun! Thanks Mike. That's great. So Mme L and I will definitely be there at 11am on the 30th, and hope many fellow Disorderists can join us.
